CHIME’s affiliation with California State University, Northridge provides it with powerful leadership resources for the programs and the Institute, allows it to actively pursue its mission to be the leader and model for the professional development education community, and provides a research laboratory while feeding leading edge research and practices back into the programs. Furthermore, the University also helps with development, fundraising, and public relations support.
The CHIME Institute has partnered with CSUN for the past nineteen years in a variety of ways to promote best practices in education and teacher preparation. This includes all CHIME Programs being identified as clinical sites for experiences in observation, fieldwork and student teaching.

Child and Family Studies Center (CFSC)
The CFSC is an instructional unit of the CSUN Family Consumer Science Department. As an early childhood program, it is committed to fostering continued growth and development of the “whole child”. It is a study and research organization accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and licensed by the California Department of Social Services. It has collaborated with the CHIME Preschool Inclusion Program since 1990.
CSUN Family Focus Resources and Empowerment Center
The FFREC is an informational, referral, supportive and educational organization serving families of: infants with or who are at-risk for developmental delays, children and adults with disabilities, and the professionals who work with them in the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys.

Schools Attuned
The Schools Attuned Program is a comprehensive professional development and service delivery program from All Kinds of Minds that offers educators new methods for recognizing, understanding, and managing students with differences in learning. In concert with the CSUN, Center for Teaching and Learning in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education, CHIME faculty and students have been the beneficiaries of extensive training in these methodologies pioneered by Dr. Mel Levine. The implementation of Schools Attuned within the CHIME Charter schools has enriched the way in which all students are educated.

Los Angeles Unified School District
The Los Angeles Unified School District is one of the largest school administrations in the nation and has been affiliated with the CHIME Institute since its inception in 1990. LAUSD is a partner in the CHIME Preschool program and the authorizer of CHIME Charter Schools. CHIME and LAUSD faculty have shared professional development and worked together to advocate for and support the CHIME inclusion mode.

The goal of CHIME’s partnership with CSDC is to help public education change from a highly regulated, process-based system to one that allows and encourages schools to be more creative, performance-based centers of effective teaching and learning. The Center provides technical assistance to the charter school reform movement in California, nationally, and internationally.
