Bio
Hi, I am currently a part-time special educator and co-teacher in the 7th grade
at CHIME Charter Middle School and part-time Inclusion facilitator for LAUSD. I received my B.A. in Psychology
from Pepperdine University in 1984. In 1988, I received an M.A., in Marriage, Family, Child Counseling from California
Graduate Institute in Los Angeles. I worked with adolescents and their families in group-home settings for several years before
quitting to start my own family. When my youngest child started the 1st grade, I went back to work as a substitute teacher in LAUSD.
I naturally felt inclined to work with students with special needs and returned to school to get my teaching credential in Special Education
from CSU Northridge. During this time I was employed at an elementary school as a special day class teacher in an Intensive Comprehensive Autism Program (ICAP).
In 2006, I came to CHIME because it is a place that models the philosophy of inclusion that I had learned and adopted in the
credential program at CSUN. I want to continue to ensure that all students have the opportunity to learn together in classrooms with their same-age
peers at CHIME as well as at other schools throughout the District.
