Ms.
Cox is the Director of the CHIME Infant & Toddler Program
and the CHIME Preschool & Kindergarten Inclusion Program
that operates at the Child and Family Studies Lab at California
State University, Northridge (CSUN). She holds a bachelor's
degree in psychology and Masters degree in Educational Psychology,
Early Childhood Special Education. Her professional experience
in the field of education extends for the past twenty years.
Ms. Cox also has extensive experience working with adults with
developmental disabilities. In addition, Ms. Cox provided early
intervention services for young children with disabilities at
UCLA and acted as an inclusion specialist for preschool children
with disabilities in a full inclusion site.
Ms.
Cox has served as a part-time instructor, master teacher, and
fieldwork supervisor for the Department of Special Education
at CSUN. She currently trains and supports teachers in the field
of Early Childhood Special Education and since 1989 has provided
mentoring and supervision for university students at the CSUN.
Her dedication is reflected in the successful operation of the
Infant & Toddler and Preschool & Kindergarten Programs.
Ms. Cox has contributed significantly to the development of
the CHIME mission and philosophy, supported development of new
programs including the CHIME Charter Elementary School, and
mentored newer members of the staff and leadership team.

curricular and instructional leadership for the CHIME Charter
Elementary School. Oversees instructional program and evaluates
staff effectiveness . Oversees business practices and recruits
resources. Provides effective communication with community, parents
and University.

Ms. Fabrocini
has 17 years of experience in education, including teaching in
elementary and secondary schools within general and special education
programs. She holds Teaching and Administrative Credentials
as well as a Master's degree in Special Education
from California State University, Northridge.
Julie
Fabrocini has been a teacher of all children in elementary and
secondary schools. In the position of program specialist
for inclusive education for LAUSD, Ms. Fabrocini provided district-wide
staff development on effective practices in instruction and
collaboration, as well as working with school site teams to
promote effective inclusive education. She brings these experiences
to the CHIME elementary school. In addition, Ms. Fabrocini is
a part-time faculty member at California State University, Northridge
within the teaching preparation programs. She is also a member
of the Board of Directors for CAL-TASH and serves as an Advisory
Board member for the Los Angeles Times Literacy Center. Ms.
Fabrocini has been effectively administering the CHIME elementary
school since its inception in August 2001. Ms. Fabrocini has
been instrumental in achieving significant success at CHIME
Charter Elementary School in a relatively short time. Her accomplishments
include:

leadership in developing research agenda and systematic program
evaluation for CHIME Institute. Oversees screening of research
proposals. Monitors and coordinates ongoing research projects.

Wendy Weichel Murawski is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Special Education at CSUN. She completed her Ph.D. in Special Education with emphases in Research, Co-Teaching, and Educational Administration at the University of California, Riverside in 2001. Dr. Murawski began her doctoral work at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, where she also completed her Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Educational Administration, her Masters degree in Special Education, and her Bachelors degree with a double major in German and omparative Literature. Dr. Murawski has worked as a secondary resource specialist and German teacher in Virginia, and as a resource specialist in California, prior to being hired by CSUN. Her primary areas of interest for research and consulting purposes are in collaboration, inclusion, co-teaching, staff development, block scheduling and strategies for students with mild/moderate disabilities. Dr. Murawski is active with numerous organizations; she is the co-advisor for the CSUN Student Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) as well as the California State Student CEC chapter. She is the secretary for the Teacher Education Division for CEC, is on the executive board for the Developmental Disabilities Area Board X, is an advisor to the Burbank Junior Chamber of Commerce, and currently serves as the Chair of the Mild/Moderate Disabilities committee for the Department of Special Education at CSUN. |
Sally
Spencer
Educator Development Center Director
Job Description: Provides
leadership in development of efforts to prepare teachers, administrators,
and other educators to implement models developed at the CHIME
Institute. Coordinates and places fieldwork students and student
teachers at the CHIME Charter Elementary School. Coordinates outreach
to other K-12 schools.

Ms. Spencer currently
holds a position as a Teacher/Scholar in Residence in the Department
of Special Education at California State University, Northridge.
As such, she is working both within the university teacher preparation
program and at the CHIME Charter Elementary School.
Ms. Spencer holds a Masters Degree with Distinction in Educational Psychology (Learning, Development and Instruction) and an Educational Specialist Instruction Credential in Mild to Moderate Disabilities, both from CSUN. She has taught at both the elementary and middle school levels, in schools with a wide diversity of populations and in both Special Day classes, General Education and Resource settings. Ms. Spencer was the first teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District to receive a Leadership Grant from the National Foundation for the Improvement of Education, and was the recipient of the 2001 Exemplary Special Educator Award from the California Chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children. Ms. Spencer has been a presenter at professional development workshops in several surrounding school districts, as well as at the Council for Exceptional Children annual meeting in San Diego, California.

Peggy Berrenson has worked as an Administrative Support Assistant at the California State University, Northridge, College of Education Grant Office since 1993 and as the CHIME Institute Bookkeeper since 1994. Peggy has worked closely with the CHIME Charter Schools in developing the budgets for the petitions and has overseen all aspects of recording revenue and expenditures for start-up and operation of the independent, directly funded Charter Schools..
