Dr. David Kretschmer joined the CHIME Institute Board of Directors in 2001. Dr. Kretschmer is currently Chair of the Elementary Education Department for California State University, Northridge, Michael D. Eisner College of Education. He joined the faculty at CSUN in 1987 as a Lecturer after teaching science for several years at the high school and middle school levels and serving as a math and science specialist at the elementary level. He earned a B.S. in Biology/Science Education from Oregon State University, an M. Ed. in Curriculum and the Study of Schooling from UCLA, and a Ph.D. in Education, also from UCLA. Dr. Kretschmer coordinates the Accelerated Collaborative Teacher (ACT) Preparation Program for Multiple Subject candidates. His research interests include teacher’s science pedagogical content knowledge, student’s alternative conceptions and conceptual change in the sciences, and teacher education. |
